Call for Release of Morcombe remains

DANIEL JAMES MORCOMBE

This news was posted recently on 22nd August 2012. It was posted by Sky News.

The family of murdered Queensland schoolboy Daniel Morcombe will today plead with authorities to release his remains, on the first anniversary after they were discovered in bushland near the Glasshouse Mountains.

Daniel 's remains were discovered almost eight years after he disappeared while waiting for a bus on the Sunshine Coast in December 2003.

42-year-old Brett Peter Cowan has been charged with murdering the 13-year-old.

On the Daniel Morcombe Foundation Facebook page, Daniel 's family say today marks the first anniversary of his remains being found and represents another cruel twist in a nightmare that began nearly nine years ago.

They say, that while grateful to the searchers, they can't draw comfort from the discovery because it now feels like he has been abducted again, saying its 'inhuman' to treat his remains as evidence for a trial.

Tributes are flowing in with many backing the family's call.
