Bruce's Ink a Gift from Son

BRUCE MORCOMBE, DANIEL'S FATHER, SHOWS HIS TATTOO IN FACEBOOK

This news was publish by the Sunshine Coast Daily in 5th June, 2012.

BRUCE Morcombe was the odd one out in the family when it came to tattoos.

His sons have them, and even his wife has one.

But that all changed last week.

With the rest of his family out of town, Mr Morcombe booked an appointment at Mooloolaba Ink.

The tattoo, on his left forearm, is an image of the Glasshouse Mountains at sunset with the words Never Forget written underneath.

It is a memento to his son, Daniel, who was abducted in December, 2003.

Daniel's remains were found late last year in swampland at Glasshouse Mountains.

"The tattoo has been at the back of my mind ... I've just been waiting for the opportune time," Mr Morcombe said.

"The significant find of Daniel's remains last year is very special to us. I've been thinking for many months what would be fitting now that Daniel has been found.

"The Glasshouse Mountains at sunset just seemed appropriate. It's just a nice memento."

Mr Morcombe said he was given a gift voucher for a tattoo as a Christmas present from his eldest son, Dean.

"I've sat on it since then. But when Denise was away in Melbourne and the boys were also away, I quietly booked myself in and had it done on the side," he said.

Tattoos for Daniel run deep in the Morcombe clan.

Dean has an arm of tattoos dedicated to his brother, while his mother Denise has the word Daniel with a red ribbon on her ankle.

The first photograph of Mr Morcombe's tattoo, uploaded to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation's Facebook page on Sunday night, earned nearly 1500 likes in the first hour.
